A Visit to Mitchell's Country

Mace's little brother Mitchell returned from his mission from Tuxtla Gutierrez, Mexico. The five of us were able to go back to his mission the week before Christmas. It was a lot fun and such a great experience to go back with him, we missed Kenidee but she had a lot of fun with Grandma and Grandpa Garlick. Just a warning this is a super long post, but I had to show all our adventures.
Our first stop was in San Cristobal. This is such a cute city, it is up in the mountains and is beautiful.

Mace's favorite part of the trip of course was the tacos! Mitchell took us to his favorite little stop on the street for a yummy taco or 15 for Mace.
This was our first experience with the ruins. The basketball courts were very cool, it reminded me of The Road to El Dorado. All the ruins are so amazing.

This is Chiflon, it was such a pretty hike up the river with waterfalls along the way. We stopped at a little swimming hole and Mitchell was able to have his first swim since before his mission.

Another of our favorite courts.

These ruins were at Tonina, this spot was my favorite. The city they have uncovered is amazing. We climbed to top and it seriously gets a little scary your up so high and can see so far.

This waterfall was where the movie Predator was filmed. And of course Mace & Mitchell jumped in the water for a little swim.

Agua Azul was very cool, all the waterfalls were so pretty!

Mace & Mitchell entertained many on the rope swing and climbing up the waterfalls

The weather wasn't exactly the Mexico weather we had hoped for but luckily we were prepared with our sweet packs.
The ruins in Palenque were awesome like the other ones. It was amazing to walk up and down them and imagine what it was like so many years ago.

Oddly enough we found ourselves ordering hot chocolate more we do when we're at home.

This is on our way to what was the coldest boat ride but very cool.

The boat ride was really cool through the canyon

Once I saw these little chairs I knew I had to take one back to Kenidee. Since we only had our backpacks we had to pack them with us. It was well worth it though, Kenidee loves her new little chair.

The temple ended up being closed the day we were in Tuxtla so we took some pictures outside at least.

We stopped by and met Mitchell's mission president and wife. They of course were wonderful people and it was so good to sit and talk with them.

This was our last Mexican meal at the airport, we all had so much fun and loved visiting Mitchells Mission. Thank you Mitchell!
